When Emma was born six years ago, I have to admit, one of the things I was so excited about having a girl was the hair.  I looked forward to the pigtails, ponytails, headbands and bows.  As a baby, Emma never was without a bow, barrette or headband.  I loved accessorizing and matching her outfits.  Two years later, Ansley was born and I got to experiment all over again with all the hair accessories.  It was great…if they were having a crazy hair morning, I could just throw a bow in and no matter how crazy the back of it looked, they always looked presentable with a bow.  I even taught them to say at an early age, “No bow, no go.”

Emma has kind of outgrown the bow phase and doesn’t really like to wear anything in her hair.  So the mornings are pretty easy with her…just wet it down and brush it out.  Ansley is content with whatever I have time for.  If we have time for pigtails, fine.  If not, a barrette is fine too.

Then there’s Jackson.  A boy’s hair should be easy, right?  Just keep it cut short and not too much damage can be done while he’s asleep.  WRONG!  This is what we have to deal with in the mornings…

There is no amount of brushing that will help this hair.  It has to be doused in water then brushed in about four different directions because of all the cowlicks (Thanks, Daddy!).  I’m thinking it’s time for a buzz cut since we can’t put bows in our son’s hair.  Any suggestions?
