Just wanted to take a minute to wish two very special dads a very Happy Father’s Day.

First of all Happy Father’s Day to my dad.  Dad, I can not thank you enough for being a wonderful earthly example of my Heavenly Father.  I admire you for so many things, but the one thing that I admire the most about you is your self-discipline.  Especially in the physical and spiritual arenas.  You are the one that inspired me to begin running and exercising about 10 years ago.  Seeing you train for and run your first marathon at age 50 was so inspiring to me.  Soon after that I began running (even though it was VERY short distances in the beginning) and since then we have enjoyed some long runs together and even ran a 1/2 marathon together.  (Well, kinda together!)  You showed me that all it takes is a little determination and discipline.

More important than the physical arena is in my walk with God.  Looking back on my childhood, I can not recall a time that I woke up in the morning and you weren’t already awake studying your bible in your chair.  Even though the chairs have changed over the years, your commitment to setting aside that first part of your day has not.  Listening to you preach week after week while I was growing up never got old to me because I knew you were genuine when you spoke.  What everyone else saw on Sunday morning, I saw throughout the week.  I love you, Dad!

Secondly, I want to wish my husband (and my baby daddy!), Barry, a Happy Father’s Day.  Barry, I never could have imagined 10 years ago when we got married what an amazing Daddy you would be to our children.  I knew you were great husband material, but I have been blown away at the love you have shown our three children.  You are my biggest cheerleader, encourager, supporter, and best friend.  Words could never express the love that I have for you.  You inspire me to be a better person and to love God and love other people more every day.  I love you more today than I did yesterday!
