Me!

I’ve been a real blogging slacker this week.  I was on vacation…that’s my excuse.  Our time away was awesome!  We stayed at the beach and the kids had a great time.  (Ansley almost cried when we were leaving…she said, “I want to live here forevah, I don’t want to leave!”  I felt the same way!)

We were able to go the beach just about every morning, head in for lunch, then go back out to the pool for a little while before the afternoon thunderstorms hit.  The evenings were nice and breezy and we enjoyed spending a lot of our nights on the patio.

Overall, it was one of the best times our family has had together.  I think even Jackson was more relaxed and enjoyed his vacation!  He started doing lots of new “tricks” this week and kept us all entertained!  It was great for all of us to relax, enjoy each others’ company, and not have to worry about the stresses of our everyday lives.

Now it’s back to the real world.  Vacation’s over (sigh!) and there is cleaning to be done, clothes to be washed, and lots of other stuff that I didn’t have to do while we were gone.  Maybe I’ll go take a nap and do all that stuff another time.  It’ll still be there tomorrow (unfortunately).  Or maybe I’ll start planning our next vacation…

Our family is on vacation and it is off to a great start.  We had a great time at the beach this morning, came in for lunch then the girls got some pool time in before an afternoon thunderstorm.  I think they were pretty pooped…Ansley just climbed in her bed and fell asleep around 4:30!

It’s been great to get away and relax with the family.  Here are a few pictures from our day at the beach.  (I had a really hard time getting Jackson to look at the camera…he was having so much fun!)

Beach Bums and Brinner May 25, 2008

Today we got to spend some quality time as a family.  In fact, this weekend we have been able to spend lots of time together.  It’s the first weekend in a VERY long time that we haven’t had anything on our calendar… NOTHING!

We started off the day at the beach.  We got there pretty early (around 10 am) and had our expectations set pretty low as far as how long Jackson (15 months old) would last.  It was his first trip to the beach (at least the first one since he’s been mobile!) and we weren’t too sure what to expect from him.  When Emma and Ansley were little we didn’t take them to the beach much because they hated the sand and the water.  Jackson LOVED it.  He crawled (yes, he’s 15 months old and still crawling) to the water, let the waves hit him, crawl back to the shore line, roll around in the sand, taste it, decide it wasn’t that appetizing, then do it all over again.  Emma played on her boogie board and Ansley jumped the waves the whole time.  Barry and I actually got to sit and relax for a while!

We had a relaxing afternoon then had the girls’ favorite dinner…breakfast.  (Barry calls this “brinner”)  We had pancakes, omelets, and fruit smoothies.  It was YUM-O!

Emma and Ansley told Barry and I that we are the best parents ever because we took them to the beach and then had brinner.  Wow.  Best Parents EVER…do you think they’ll think that when they’re 14 and 16?  I think it’s going to take a lot more than the beach and brinner, but it’s good to know that our 4 and 5 year old kids enjoyed a little quality family time also!

By the way…I took some really cute pictures of the kids at the beach that I was looking forward to posting on here.  Then I realized I left the memory card in the computer at home.  Oh well…maybe next time!
